Shannon Cottrell has worked for the Anglican Church of Canada in the area of financial development since 2002.  She is known for her creativity, passion for sharing stories about the work of the church and for providing exceptional donor relations, and her attention to detail.

Throughout her ministry, Shannon has served in a number of roles: Donations Clerk for the Anglican Appeal, General Synod’s annual direct mail program; Donor Relations Coordinator, working on the Letting Down the Nets initiative; Anglican Appeal and Donor Relations Coordinator; and Donor Relations and Volunteer Coordinator.

Now Coordinator of Resource Development, Research, and Donor Relations, Shannon is involved in creating resources that support the annual giving program and other departmental initiatives. She also conducts research in support of major and strategic gift initiatives and, along with her colleagues, provides donor relations by thanking and engaging donors. Since joining her colleagues in Resources for Mission, Shannon has enjoyed getting to know the church’s donors and is continually inspired by the reasons behind their passionate generosity.

Shannon is a graduate of St. Jerome’s University, University of Waterloo, where she studied history and drama. She has taken a number of courses through the Association of Fundraising Professions (AFP), including the Essentials of Fundraising Program. Currently, she is a member of AFP and was previously a member of the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP) and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP).

When not working, Shannon is actively involved in community theatre in Toronto and has often worked as a producer. She has received two ACT-CO (Association of Community Theatres—Central Ontario) Thea Award nominations for her work as producer on a musical and a drama.
