Together in Mission

Together in Mission is a planned nation-wide, mission-focused fundraising initiative involving a partnership between the General Synod and dioceses that are ready and willing to participate. This initiative will involve all the parishes in a participating diocese and all parishioners will be asked to make a generous gift according to their means.  The hope is that over a period of several years, most or all dioceses will join the initiative.

The plan is to engage with dioceses that are willing and ready—a few at a time. Campaigns will be firmly based in the diocese itself, although General Synod will provide both expert and financial assistance and support. A diocese will incorporate some parts of General Synod’s case for support into its own case and allocate a certain percentage of its financial goal to General Synod priorities.

Resources for Mission staff have been working on this initiative for several months. The name Together in Mission highlights the two core components of the initiative: first, that it is based on a working partnership between dioceses and the General Synod, and second, that it is aimed at providing support for mission priorities of the dioceses as reflected in the Marks of Mission, in Vision 2019, and in the diocese’s own plans.

  • Read the Together in Mission case for support
This document is meant as a tool that dioceses considering participation in Together in Mission can use to test support for new ministries by the General Synod. Depending on the results of those tests, some or all of the initiatives described in this document could then be incorporated in a diocesan case for support for use in a Together in Mission fundraising campaign.
