CAPA

A delegation of CAPA leaders including Primate Albert Chama (Province of Central Africa), CAPA Chair of the Board, Canon Grace Kaiso, CAPA Executive Secretary, and Mrs. Elizabeth Wanjiku Gicovi, CAPA Communications and Finance will visit the Anglican Church of Canada, September 15-30, 2017. The delegation seeks to learn about the local and regional mission of the church by meeting Anglican and ecumenical leaders in the Dioceses of Athabasca, Edmonton, Qu’Appelle, Rupert’s Land, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. These dioceses, and several others, have committed to covenant companionship with dioceses in the 11 Provinces of the Anglican Communion in Africa or are actively involved in the Consultation of Anglican Bishops in Dialogue. The purpose of the visit is for mutual learning and setting priorities for stronger mission together. A more detailed itinerary will be available in this space soon.

Consultation of Anglican Bishops in Dialogue

Since Lambeth 2008, a number of Canadian Bishops have participated in an annual Consultation of Anglican Bishops in Dialogue. The purpose of this dialogue is to gather informally to learn, discuss and consider issues of tension and distrust within the Communion. The Consultation is the Anglican Church of Canada’s commitment to the Communion’s Continuing Indaba and will bring together 30 bishops in 2017 with host Diocese of Nairobi, Anglican Province of Kenya. Canadian Bishops participating in the Consultation have included: Archbishop Colin Johnson, National Indigenous Bishop Mark MacDonald, Bishops Michael Ingham, Jane Alexander, Robert Hardwick, Linda Nicholls, Michael Bird, Michael Oulton, and John Chapman. The majority of participants are African although there are also participants from the Church of England and The Episcopal Church.
