2015 Women’s Conference in Jerusalem

Project description

The Marks of Mission Champion grant will be used as seed money for a joint diocesan women’s conference between the Diocese of Ottawa and the Diocese of Jerusalem, to be held in Jerusalem in April 2015. Grant funds will go towards organisational costs—helping Jerusalem with advertising, recruitment, and accommodations.

The conference is being organised by Shafeeqa Fu’ad Massad, wife of the Rt. Rev. Suheil Dawani, bishop of Jerusalem, and Catherine Chapman, wife of the Rt. Rev. John Chapman, bishop of Ottawa.

Mark of Mission

This project reflects the first, third, and fourth marks:

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom – allowing Canadian and Palestinian/Israeli women to share in Bible study and fellowship, and to enrich each other’s understanding.
  • To respond to human need by loving service – undertaking an outreach project chosen by the women of Jerusalem.
  • To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation – through the sharing of lives and stories.
