How we work

As the church we are called to be signs and instruments of God’s reconciling love in the world. We are called “to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with [our] God” (Micah 6:8), following this biblical example of right relationships. The mandate of Partners in Mission and Ecojustice (PMEJ) is to help the Anglican Church of Canada respond to this call.

What does this look like?  Partners in Mission and Ecojustice works both locally and globally with a network of people to challenge injustice, to safeguard the integrity of God’s creation, and to support the mission priorities of our partners.

We educate and engage Canadian Anglicans in God’s mission by

  • building relationships within and beyond the Anglican Communion
  • modelling respectful inclusion and hospitality
  • ensuring that this mission is handed down from one generation to the next

The PMEJ committee

Partners in Mission and Ecojustice standing committees came together as a single committee at the General Synod in 2007 and continues in the 2010-13 triennium.

The merge was in part a response to the globalized context of our work, which could no longer be separated into categories of “Canadian justice” and “international mission.”  It was also, in part, an attempt to better use the staff and budget resources in the Partnerships department.

The important work of the PMEJ Committee is now being facilitated by staff in the new Relationships division of the Primate’s Office.
