Anglicans Working on the MDGs

The Millennium Development Goals are 8 international development goals that all 192 United Nations member states and 23 international organizations agreed, in 2000, to achieve by 2015.  Our Primate, the National Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Archbishop of Canterbury all encourage our work on achieving these goals.  See the links below for more information and ways of working.

Niigaanibatowaad: FrontRunners

In 1967, ten Indigenous young men were chosen to carry the torch from St. Paul, Minnesota to Winnipeg for the Pan American Games. When the runners arrived at the stadium, they were not allowed to enter. Instead, a non-Aboriginal runner was given the honour of carrying the torch inside. Thirty-two years later, the province of Manitoba issued an official apology to the runners, nine of whom were students at redisdential school.
