This resource is designed to help parishes commit to justice for our earth household. Unless we take time to learn about the consequences of our choices, we may find ourselves tossed about by the waves of consumerism and culture around us.
Just Living is a simple booklet that invites simple living by taking these first steps:
- Reading and learning about trade and climate change
- Organizing small parish gatherings for prayer and study
- Discerning where and how to focus your next actions

Clarification
The Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia produces a quarterly publication also called Just Living, a collection of stories, reflections and insights with resources for engagement.
Correction
Level Ground Trading is a fair trade organization based in Victoria, B.C. They point out that that the statement on page 11 of Just Living is incorrect: “fair trade products always carry the ‘Fair Trade Certified’ logo.”
In fact, there are many fair trade products sold in Canada that do not carry the Transfair logo, including products from Level Ground and most handicrafts sold by Ten Thousand Villages.
You are invited to look beyond the products to the organizations that sell them. FTOs (Fair Trade Organizations) or members of FLO (Fair Trade Labelling Association) are committed to sell and work exclusively with fair trade products and subscribe to the 10 standards of fair trade.
