The Greatest Gift

That the Deanery of Algoma undertakes a shared project of primary evangelism in 2014.

With the approval of Deanery Council, members of the deanery congregations will be invited to share in the designing, building, and use of a parade float to be entered in as many Algoma and district 2014 Christmas parades as possible.

The float, called THE GREATEST GIFT, supported by a crew of costumed parade-walkers, will ask and answer the question—What is the greatest gift?—The babe of Bethlehem.

  1. For the Anglican and Lutheran churches of Algoma to make a public statement of faith at a significant moment in a number of local communities.
  2. For many of our members to offer their varied gifts and skills in the design and production of a Christmas float and parade costumes.
  3. For many of our members to get to know each other better and share in fellowship.
  4. For many of our members to actually step out in faith…. and walk (or ride) the parade route(s).
  5. For all of our congregations to support a shared project through prayer.
  6. To document the entire project, in words, photos, video, so that our experiences can be shared broadly.
