The General Synod Archives holds a wide range of records documenting the life and work of the Anglican Church of Canada. These include the permanent records of the General Synod and related Anglican entities. Established in the early twentieth century, the Archives also includes a historical reference library supporting research into the Church’s history in Canada.

Using the Archives
Reading room access
The General Synod Archives reading room is open Tuesday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment only. Researchers are required to register in advance and sign in at each visit.
Reproductions and publication
Reproductions of archival materials may be requested, subject to the Archives’ fee schedule and the Canadian Copyright Act. Written permission is required to publish materials from the General Synod Archives.
