Ecclesiastical provinces and metropolitans
The dioceses of the Anglican Church of Canada are grouped into four ecclesiastical provinces, each led by a metropolitan (archbishop). Dates below note the metropolitan’s most recent election, re-election, appointment or re-appointment and are subject to change.
- British Columbia and Yukon: The Most Rev. John Stephens (January 2025)
- Northern Lights: The Most Rev. Gregory Kerr-Wilson (April 2022)
- Ontario: The Most Rev. Anne Germond (October 2018)
- Canada: The Most Rev. David Edwards (June 2020)
The Primate is the most senior metropolitan, while the next most senior metropolitan (by election or appointment) carries key duties in the Primate’s absence (as noted in the Handbook of the General Synod). The National Indigenous Archbishop also ranks with the metropolitans (Canon XXII).
