Jerusalem Sunday, known now as Jerusalem and Holy Land Sunday, is an opportunity for Anglicans and Lutherans in Canada to learn more about and support God’s mission in the Diocese of Jerusalem and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan & the Holy Land (ELCJ&HL). Congregations are encouraged to use suggested liturgical resources prepared annually. Church members are also invited to make an offering in support of important health care work in the Diocese of Jerusalem and the ELCJ&HL.
To stay connected with the Diocese of Jerusalem throughout the year, consider becoming a Companion of Jerusalem.
The ministries of the Diocese of Jerusalem sustain and strengthen respect and concern for all people through education and health care, hospitality and working for peace. The diocese puts their Christian presence and faith into the action of ‘loving our neighbours as ourselves’, bringing hope to many regardless of faith and circumstance.
In 2024, all offerings and donations will be designated to the Al Ahli Arab Hospital, Gaza, and other diocesan medical institutions to support the care and treatment of Gazan children impacted by the current war and humanitarian needs.
To help plan worship for Jerusalem and Holy Land Sunday, a series of resources are available for local use. Watch this space in Spring 2025 for updated materials.
