On November 27, the Council of the General Synod appointed Mr. Beng Wee as Treasurer for the Anglican Church of Canada. With this appointment, the National Church returns to the preferred practice of separating the role of Chief Financial Officer from that of Treasurer. Ms. Amal Attia will continue to serve in the role of Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Wee began his career in finance and administration leadership with a Fortune 500 company in Singapore and Hong Kong before moving to a 12-year term with Dow Jones, eventually relocating to Princeton, New Jersey. He then became the director for finance and administration at Overseas Missionary Fellowship in Singapore and in Canada. He currently manages a financial portfolio. In addition to his management accounting qualifications, he holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Regent College.
Mr. Wee is a member of the Parish of St. Paul’s Bloor Street in Toronto, and currently serves on the boards of several organizations, including Wycliffe College.
I am grateful to Mr. Wee for faithfully offering his extensive experience and acumen to this important role and look forward to serving with him.
Yours in Christ,
Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada
