What unites Canadian Anglicans? Since his election as Primate last June, Archbishop Fred Hiltz has criss-crossed the country listening to the diverse groups that make up the Anglican church.
Now he’s sharing his reflections in the first of a series of video messages that will be posted on the Anglican Church of Canada’s website, www.anglican.ca.
The title of these messages, One of another in Christ, comes from Romans 12:5, “So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.” The Primate hopes these messages will unite Canadian Anglicans in their mission as disciples of Christ.
“People are longing to celebrate afresh their life in Christ,” says Archbishop Hiltz in the first episode. “I’m also sensing that people are hoping that we might, as a church, hold up and celebrate anew those wonderful things that draw us together.”
In the first episode, which will be posted later this week, the Primate reflects on his first few months in office and offers a vision of the church he is finding as he travels. He mentions several instruments of unity, and also commends a special prayer.
