A Charter for Racial Justice in the Anglican Church of Canada sets out the Church’s commitments to racial justice, reconciliation and systemic change. It names racism as a sin and offers theological grounding, structural analysis and practical commitments that dioceses and parishes can use to support anti-racism education, ministry planning and community partnerships. As a working document, the Charter provides shared language to guide racial justice work in Anglican communities across Canada.
Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts is a feature-length film that explores the lasting impact of the Doctrine of Discovery, a set of fifteenth-century papal rulings that declared lands outside Europe to be “empty” and Indigenous Peoples to be less than fully human. These ideas shaped the legal and moral framework of colonization and continue to influence laws, policies and relationships in Canada today.
Honouring the Four Directions is a prayer that draws on a Cree adaptation of the medicine wheel to invite balanced relationship with Creator, creation and one another. First used during a Day of Prayer for Indigenous Justice in 2013, it offers structured intercession facing East, South, West and North, calling the community to seek the Spirit’s wisdom, courage and gentleness in the work of justice and right relationship.
The Anglican Healing Fund supports community-based healing initiatives led by Indigenous peoples across Canada. Since 1992 it has provided grants for projects that foster healing, resilience and cultural renewal in response to the intergenerational harms caused by residential schools and ongoing colonial structures. The fund centres Indigenous leadership and local priorities, helping communities strengthen language, identity and well-being. Individuals or parishes seeking to support this work may also make donations to the fund.
Investing with a Mission: A Guide to Responsible Investment and Church Funds introduces Anglican communities to responsible investment practices that align financial decision-making with Christian values and ministry priorities. It offers clear guidance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) approaches, practical steps for reviewing policies and accountable ways to steward church assets for long-term sustainability.
A Litany for the Healing and Restoration of our Church (2017) gives Anglican communities a structured way to enter prayer around the realities of colonization, the call to repentance and the hope of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Its language names harm with clarity while inviting humility, compassion and transformation. Suitable for worship and study contexts, this litany can be used in full or adapted for worship, formation or community gatherings.
The Marks of Mission are a set of five commitments that describe how Anglicans participate in God’s mission in the world. Developed through the Anglican Consultative Council and affirmed across the Anglican Communion, they offer a shared framework for proclaiming the gospel, nurturing faith, serving others, pursuing justice and safeguarding creation. In the Anglican Church of Canada, the Marks provide a common language for ministry at every level of the church.
The National Youth Project (NYP) is a program of the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, inviting youth and congregations across the country to engage with urgent social issues through learning, reflection, local action and advocacy. Each cycle focuses on a different theme. The current NYP, titled “And it was so”, centres on food insecurity, creation care and community responsibility.
