Administrative History:

The Federal War Service Commission of the Churches in Canada, a post-WWI commission established in 1918, consisted of various denominational organizations and commissions that supplied ministerial support at home and overseas during the war.  Included was the War Service Commission of the Church of England in Canada, the Baptist Military Service Board of the Convention of Ontario and Quebec, Military Service Committee of the Congregational Union of Canada, The Army and Navy Board of the Methodist Church, The National Service Commission of the Presbyterian Church of Canada and the Catholic Charities.  Its job was to assist the Federal Government reintegrate soldiers back into civilian society.
