Biographical Sketch:

John Sargent Moir (1926- ) was born in Toronto and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Canadian history.  Professor of History at Scarborough College, University of Toronto, Dr. Moir has also held teaching posts at the University of Toronto and Carleton University, Ottawa.  He has contributed widely to books, encyclopedias, scholarly journals, and is the author of numerous publications on Canadian history and the role of the Church in Canadian history.

Scope and Content:

Fonds consists of a typescript paper on the Canadian Protestant public’s reaction to the Roman Catholic’s proclamation of the Ne Temere Decree in 1908, including an analysis of coverage in the Protestant press, conferences and government legislation.
