Biographical Sketch:

The Rev. H. Sherman Shepherd (1897-1976) was the missionary at St. John’s Mission and principle of the Shingle Point Residential School (1929-1936) and then All Saints Residential School at Aklavik (1936-1944).  In September 1930, Reita Latham joined the school staff at Shingle Point.  Reita and Sherman married before the year was out.  Canon Shepherd continued to work in the Arctic and residential schools until 1954.  He then took a couple parishes in Ontario before retiring to his home community on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick.

Scope and Content:

Fonds consists of digital images of Reita Latham’s travels to Shingle Point and her years at Shingle Point where she met and married Sherman Shepherd.
