Diocesan consultations to examine priorities

General Synod and the Lambeth Conference 1998 were both important events in the life of the church. Many debates took place, viewpoints were expressed and resolutions passed. It is important that dialogue continue in our whole church at the diocesan and national levels.

Dioceses have been invited to schedule a consultation between now and the spring of 1999. Volunteers from General Synod and national staff will participate in the consultations, visiting dioceses to talk about emerging priorities and ways that we can enhance the relationship between the dioceses and General Synod and build common ownership of the mission of the church at the diocesan and national levels.

Fall consultations have been scheduled in five dioceses: Athabasca, Calgary, Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, Huron and Moosonee. Eighteen more have been scheduled for the winter/spring of 1999 and one for the fall.
