Biographical Sketch:
Archdeacon Gowan Gillmor (1849-1928) came to Canada from Ireland and worked as a lay reader at Algoma Mills. He was ordained deacon in 1884 and priest in 1885. He served as chaplain in the North-West Rebellion (1885), in the Mission of North Bay (1885-1891), in Rosseau (1891-1907), as a travelling missionary (1907-1920), and in St. Peter’s, Sault Ste. Marie (1920-1924). Gillmor was married once in Ireland and then again to Laura Gregory of North Bay, Ont.

Scope and Content:
Fonds consists of pocket diaries noting visits, services, baptisms and other miscellaneous observations. Included are two loose leaves describing Gillmor’s service as a travelling missionary in the diocese of Algoma.
