In Worship and Action: A Narrative Budget for General Synod 2008 is now available for download and ordering and is being distributed to dioceses.

A “narrative budget,” unlike the more traditional type of budget, tells stories around how an organization raises and spends money. The idea in this case is to give human and anecdotal faces to where contributions to the Anglican Church—In Worship and Action is both a key phrase from the Mission Statement of the Anglican Church of Canada, and the title of the annual Narrative Budget produced for 2008 by the Communications and Financial Management departments of General Synod’s national organization come from as well as to the initiatives, programs and ministries that the church supports.

General Synod’s Mission Statement, which has been held up by the Primate, Archbishop Fred Hiltz since his election last summer, is the cornerstone of the 2008 publication and is a theme that runs throughout the text.

Another new component to the 2008 publication is that the description of each area of revenue and expenditure is accompanied by a scriptural quotation from The Acts of the Apostles. The quotations offer a starting point for readers to reflect on what they are reading.
