CoGS approves hiring of General Synod Treasurer

TORONTO—A veteran financial administrator in both the private and not-for-profit sectors will be the next Treasurer of General Synod and director of the Financial Management Department.

By email vote, the Council of General Synod approved the hiring of Michèle George, a Chartered Accountant and a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Institutes of Chartered Accountants.

Most recently, Ms George served as Chief Financial Officer and business administrator for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.

Her experience covers health care, real estate, financial services, computer services and small business.

Ms George has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax and a certificate in Catholic Leadership from St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto.

She will join General Synod staff and the General Synod’s Management Team at the end of April.
