What Does One Month Look Like with The Compendium of the Church Mice?

First Sunday of the month

Children’s Gift Sunday

On the first Sunday of each month, children are invited into the sanctuary to take part in the service. This compendium includes a list of basic tasks handled by every team and guild of the church—see Gift Sunday Planning: Job Descriptions.

Second and Fourth Sundays of the month

Regular Sunday school activities

A simple lesson plan includes welcoming every child, reading the gospel, praying, The Lord’s Prayer and then fun activities! Descriptions of all activities are included—each description could be part of your church bulletin.

Teachers can follow the suggested structure or add their own flair to the activities.

Third Sunday of the month

Music Sunday, Bread Sunday or Story Sunday

Music Sunday means singing in the Sunday school. Children will have a chance to make their own instruments, then sing, sing, sing!

But, teachers, please do what you love to do.

Do you love to bake? Then bake bread with the children every third Sunday.

Do you love to read stories? Read stories to the children every third Sunday.

The Church Mice have come out of the walls into the sanctuary. Their first order of business? To shake things up a bit at the Sunday school!
