General Synod appoints new Director of Communication

The General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Meghan Kilty as Director of Communication.

Ms. Kilty, 37, is experienced in all aspects of communications leadership, strategy and tactics. She brings with her a wealth of expertise in communications strategy, strategic management, social media strategy, content development, advocacy, outreach, team development and leadership.

“The need for strategic communications planning and management that is aligned with the church’s vision, ministry and values is crucial not only for growth, but to respond to today’s needs and challenges,” said Kilty. “I’m honored that the General Synod has put their faith in me; and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support its ministries and ministry partnerships and to serve in this capacity.”

Ms. Kilty’s professional experience includes roles in higher education, law, healthcare, and as a previous Communications Coordinator at St. Paul’s Bloor Street in Toronto. Her work has won several awards from the Council of Advancement in Education and the Canadian Council for Advancement in Education for print creative and social media strategy.

In addition, Ms. Kilty is a public relations researcher and candidate in the Master of Communications Management program at McMaster and Syracuse Universities. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals and her current research focuses on post-crisis communication, community resiliency and public trust.

Ms. Kilty will begin work on May 19.
