Primate appoints Acting General Secretary

The Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, Archbishop Andrew Hutchison has announced the appointment of Ellie Johnson, Director of Partnerships, as acting general secretary of General Synod.

The appointment will be effective upon the retirement of Archdeacon Jim Boyles, who is due to retire on July 31.

Ms. Johnson will serve until a new appointment is made, and will exercise the full responsibilities of the General Secretary, said Archbishop Hutchison. She will also continue as Partnerships Director.

The Council of General Synod, (CoGs)– the chief governing body of the Anglican Church of Canada when General Synod itself is not in session — will establish a committee to assist in the selection of a new general secretary when it meets in May.
