Primate names head of Anglican Foundation

The chair and board of directors of the Anglican Foundation are pleased to announce the appointment of the Very Rev. John vanNostrand Wright as the new executive director and chief operating officer of the Anglican Foundation of Canada, effective June 1, 2006.

Dean Wright was previously the Dean of Columbia and rector of Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria. He has more than 36 years of experience in ministry and has served in six dioceses and three ecclesiastical provinces.

He is Dean Emeritus of Columbia; co-chair of the Conference of Cathedral Deans, Spouses and Partners of North America; Chevalier, the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem and a member of the Royal United Services Institute of Victoria Island, the Air Force Officers’ Association and the Honorary Board of St. John Ambulance, Victoria Branch.

Dean Wright is married to Mary Elizabeth Hastie and they have one daughter, Joanna Mary Elliott. He lives in Nova Scotia and will be moving to Toronto.

Dean Wright will be attending the next board of directors meeting and the annual meeting and dinner at St. Simon-the-Apostle Anglican Church in Toronto on June 2.
