The Primate’s Theological Commission (PTC) was a diverse group of theologians who worked on contemporary questions within the Anglican Church of Canada. Members were appointed by the Primate, but worked in cooperation with the Faith, Worship, and Ministry Committee, particularly in the 2007 to 2010 triennium. The PTC is currently on hiatus as General Synod leadership discerns how best to approach future theological work.

Work from the Primate’s Theological Commission:

This report responds to two questions posed at General Synod 2007: “the theological question of whether the blessing of same-sex unions is a faithful, Spirit-led development of Christian doctrine” and “Scripture’s witness to the integrity of every human person and the question of the sanctity of human relationships.”

Canadian Anglicans were also invited to weigh in on these questions. Read other responses here.

The report answers the question posed at General Synod 2004: “is the blessing of committed same-sex unions a matter of doctrine?”
